Year 1 and 2
Year 1
Pupils in Year 1 will follow the programmes of study in the new National Curriculum. Teachers will build on work from the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The National Curriculum provides an outline of the core knowledge around which the teachers plan exciting and stimulating lessons to promote the development of pupils' knowledge, understanding and skills. Pupils in Year 1 take part in a statutory phonics check in the summer term, to ascertain whether pupils meet the required standard for Year 1.
